Daily Business Flow
Classic slow Monday — and the rain made it even slower. We got maybe 15 covers for lunch and under 40 for dinner. Not unexpected given the weather and post-weekend lull, but it still stings after last week's strong numbers. The rain started around 11am and didn't let up until close. Foot traffic on Main Street was basically nonexistent. Our regulars who usually pop in for lunch stayed away. Can't blame them — I wouldn't want to walk three blocks in this either. Staffing was right for the day. We ran a skeleton crew: 2 servers each shift, Marcus alone in the kitchen with one prep cook. Even then people were standing around during the slow stretches. Let Tyler go home at 7pm when it was clear dinner wasn't picking up. Used the downtime productively. Deep cleaned the bar wells, reorganized the dry storage, and finally fixed the squeaky door to the patio. Small wins. Weather forecast shows clearing tomorrow — fingers crossed for a better Tuesday. One bright spot: a couple came in for their anniversary and did the full tasting menu. Great to give them an unhurried, attentive experience. Left a 30% tip and said they'd be back.
Daily Log
Walk-in temp holding at 38°F. Rotated all produce from the weekend rush. Found two cases of asparagus buried in the back — still good but need to use today or tomorrow.
Rain is killing us. Only 3 tables seated for lunch so far and it's almost 1pm. Sending Maria home early — no point paying two servers to stand around.
Anniversary couple on table 7 — 25 years married! They requested the tasting menu. Let's make it special. Marcus, can we do something extra for dessert?
Fixed the squeaky patio door finally. Just needed WD-40 and some elbow grease. One less thing driving me crazy.
Closing up. Final count: 52 covers, $1,432 sales. Slow but expected for a rainy Monday. Everything prepped for tomorrow. Weather looks better — let's hope for a stronger Tuesday.
